Evidence of 1984-India

A true report(myself visited and reporting) on Hondh Chillar village on 06-03-11.

We started from Vikaspuri, West Delhi at 8.00 am. The bus was arranged by some Panth dardi Sikhs. The surviving members of those families were taken from Hari Nagar to Hondh Chillar. Other buses and cars were arranged from Gurdwara Moti bagh sahib. We all reached their by 10.30. Almost all the eminent personalities of panth were present there.

Among those I met Navkiran Singh ji, Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad, Jarnail Singh ji Journalist, Baba Baljit Singh ji Daduwal, Bhai Mohkam Singh ji, Jathedar of Akal Takhat Sahib Sri Gurbachan Singh ji, Advocate H S Phoolka ji and many more.

This village can be called a “thirsty land of blood” as the told by surviving members and other residents of nearby village that earlier the Thakurs were massacred long back, then the Muslims settled here but they too were killed here in 1947. After that the govt of India allotted this land to migrated (Refuzee) Sikhs from Pakistan. By their hard labor, the prospered sooner and were counted among grace families of this area. One Sikh was the village head also. The youth had opened several other businesses like motor mechanic, weaving, trading etc hence they were known in surrounding villages and were targeted deliberately by the local MLA, MP and other Congress leaders. I do write this as I assumed because the attackers were provided a roadways Bus, A truck and two tractors.

They arrived at about 11.00 am in the morning and attacked the village by shouting hate slogans of Blood against blood and that Sikh have killed Indira so eliminate them, like that provocating others. A young Sikh Balwant Singh took out his sword and repulsed the attack by attacking a goon. His hard blow cut his arm and then these attackers disappeared in fear but in the night they came back again with more strength and attacked on houses. The credit to save nearly 32 people in that village goes to him only. had he not given a brave befitted reply, many more would have lost their precious lives. This brave man passed recently in 2010. Waheguru may rest his soul in peace.

In this double story building, about 12 members of a family took shelter , they were mostly women and children but the attackers removed the roof slabs and threw petrol bombs and and other inflammable items and set the room ablaze, all those women and children were burnt alive.

This brutality reminds me of the brutality on British in Calcutta where 110 British had taken shelter in a small room, but were burnt alive by Hindus. That place is also converted in a memorial as Holwel memorial.

The attackers searched for every alive member in nearby fields and other places where one could hide and killed almost everyone they found. No body could escape other then those few lucky persons who were away on that day from the village.

One six year old girl Surjeet kaur was wounded by a buffallow so she had gone to her paternal uncles house in Rewari so she only could escape. I met her, you can see her in video along with her other family members. Though she lives hardly 15 kms away from this haunted village but she too visited today only. I had no words to express my grief to her as her eyes were wet and crying inside in sweet memories of her family members. She lost 12 members of her family.

In this village only two house (demolished), an old mosque and a burnt Gurudwara are left, a Majar is there which is recently painted by some devotees but I saw a good respect to that Majar in eyes of those Sikhs who played in their childhood their.

In total 32 people were killed on that night. No body came to collect the bodies. A few dead were given a collective funeral by police in that village, there ashes either thrown in the well nearby or spread in fields could not be traced. The cleaning of well shall start from today as a contract is given for 10, thousand rupees and if some bones are recovered he shall be given 15000 rupees. He shall resume his work today only. Their is a dry pond behind the Majar which is the property of these deceased. 50 bighas of land which was allotted to this village and is a property owned by the Sikhs can be claimed as it is non transferable. Two canals and some small pieces of land were not sold which the Sikh family members wished to hand it over to Sikhs for justice to build a memorial their which is the only LIVE EVIDENCE of the brutalities and massacre of Sikh genocide of 1984 in India. There may be more as reports received from Patuadi nearby today only reveals the horrific tales of terror. 17 Sikhs were killed there. Ther two young girls aged 16 * 18 were molested, their clothes tored off, pissed on face and then said that these are the NAGINS (female snakes) which will give birth to snakes so kill them, they were raped before they were killed.

To my horror, an old man with his shorn (Cut) white hairs, who too was successful in saving his life in pataudi, (Met me personally and interviewed—recrded on Camera) that when he reached in Police Station Pataudi and asked for help-the SHO imposed a condition to him that he could only save his (and a few othere Sikhs also who had found way to Police station) and others lives if they cut their hairs. Then their hairs were cut in that Police station. Their lives were saved but only after they paid a heavy price of thar religious mandatory sign of unshorn hairs.

Is it not a crime and violation of duty of a police officer? Why no action is taken against him?

I wonder that more than 26 years have been passed but the famous family of Pataudi (the rulers-Nawab family) never paid a visit to pay their tributes in this village, they are cine stars family of Sharmila Tagore, Saif Ali Khan, Soha ali khan and India's former Captain of Cricket Nawab Pataudi.

Such is the Hindu mentality who calls themselves god fearing and people with patience on earth but actually disgusting creatures, the most inhumane people on earth.

When these families were allotted land in this village, they never destroyed the old signs of Muslims. The structure of old Mosque is still there. Sikhs earlier converted it into a Gurdwara but after sometime built a new Gurudwara nearby which you see in pictures and video. This new Gurudwara was burnt and sarup of sri Guru Granth Sahib ji was disrespected and burnt in flames. Though the building of Gurudwara was not much damaged but the langar hall (Community kitchen everyone shared the food was gutted into ashes in flames. There was no sign of Langar hall. The people of nearby villages too arrived and shared their views and horrific tales with us, the new village head too assured all help to preserve this village as a memorial like Jalianwala bagh. Where British Generel Michel o dyer brutally killed the agitators in the garden, more than 500 were killed and 1200 wounded. This is made a memorial in free India at Amritsar.

All the eminent Sikhs offered their donations to contribute to build a surrounding wall to preserve it as Live evidence. Bhai Baljeet Singh ji Daduwal announced Rs. One Lakh, and almost every one like Bhai Mohkam singh and others too announced. This list is with organizing committee so I can not give a detail here.

The event was covered by PTC LIVE , Sahara Samay, and many others I noticed making documentary films. But I am amazed, that only Sikhs are highlighting this tragic event of horror but Hindu media channels did not cover it as they do cover Baba Ramdev and other Hindu activities. I can dare to say that a great division in Sikhs and Hindus can be seen in India. It may not be officially accepted but unofficially it is. Only Congress is responsible for this ditch, distrust and to sow the seeds of division.

Ajmer singh Randhawa.

Bir Devinder questions silence of minorities minister, NCM, NHRC on Hondh
TNN, Feb 25, 2011, 05.17am IST

JALANDHAR: Former deputy speaker of Punjab assembly, Bir Devinder Singh, has questioned the silence of Union minister for minorities, Salman Khurshid, National Commission for Minorities and National Human Rights Commission over the issue of massacre of Sikhs in Hondh Chillar village of Haryana in November 1984.

"When would they wake up to take suo-moto cognizance of the matter, he asked, adding, "Minorities in India do not mean only Muslims and Christians. Sikhs also constitute an important minority in India and their concerns should also be addressed with the same swiftness as is done in the case of other minorities."

He added, "I wonder why Khurshid has not cared, so far to take cognizance of the horrendous incident even after a lapse of 26 years. The massacre has come to light and appeared prominently in the print media all over India but despite that, even the National Commission for Minorities has failed to take any significant initiative in the matter."

Referring to the lost FIR at Jatusana police station in the case he wanted to know if it was a very difficult task for the police to trace the FIR registered in the matter? "Even a `munshi` of the police station can trace the FIR if there is a will to trace the perpetrators of the heinous crime. Who does not know that FIRs are part of the permanent record of the SSP office, illaqa magistrate and also that of the district and sessions judge`s record room?" Bir Devinder asked, while putting a question mark on the working of various agencies and their callous attitude towards the ghastly crime.

While pointing out the details of the procedures of police stations he said, "One can find the gist of the crime in the crime registers maintained in the offices of the DSP or in the office of the SSP maintained by crime record branch under the supervisory control of the CRO (crime record officer). Details of the crimes are also mentioned in the village crime register i.e. register no 9(2) of the Police Station." He said, " Just see how systematically this horrendous crime was buried and all facts and evidence related to the crime was suppressed by the power that was, at that point of time."

While appreciating the efforts made by Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad, president of All India Sikh Students Federation, in unearthing and highlighting the issue, he said that it was of paramount importance that the matter does not lose focus because of the multiplicity of efforts of by Sikh organizations. He suggested that the SGPC should immediately appoint a high power committee of eminent Sikh legal experts, who volunteer their services for the cause. "Let this committee alone decide the course of action to be followed in the matter," he said.

SGPC seeks judicial probe into Rewari massacre
To initiate legal action against those responsible for it

Amritsar, February 20
Taking a strong note of the alleged massacre of innocent Sikhs in Rewari district of Haryana in 1984, the SGPC has decided to initiate steps for taking legal action against the people/officials responsible for the incident as well as those behind covering up the entire matter. It has also sought a judicial probe into the matter.

SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar stated this today after a committee formed by the SGPC submitted its report to him following a visit to Hond-Chillar village in Rewari. Revealing the findings of the report, he said Manmohan Singh, a riot-hit villager who was 17-year-old in 1984, told the committee that an irate mob had descended on the village on November 2, 1984, but their sarpanch Dhanpat had somehow persuaded them to return.

However, after sometime, the mob, armed with lathis and sharp-edged weapons, returned to the village in three trucks and set ablaze many houses there. “Those in houses died of suffocation, while the ones trying to escape were beaten to death by the mob,” he told the committee. According to Manmohan, 32 persons were killed while he and his three brothers sustained injuries in the attack.

As per the committee report, the villagers, who had somehow managed to escape the brunt of the mob, later cut their hair out of fear. Another village resident Hoshiar Singh told the panel that he himself consigned 27 bodies to flames in the presence of the then SHO, Ram Kishore, while the last rites of partially burnt bodies were performed by the municipal committee staff. Manmohan’s brother Joginder Singh, who is an advocate in Rewari, told the panel that a Sikh Army man who had taken shelter in the village to escape rioters was also killed by the mob.

Makkar said they had established contact with the next of the kin of those killed at Hond-Chillar village in 1984 and they would soon be meeting him. These families were at present living in Bathinda, Ludhiana and Rewari. He said the SGPC would form another panel in this connection that would collect information about revenue and municipal records, FIRs and the action taken by the police and submit a report to him, on the basis of which future course of action would be decided.

Meanwhile, the Dal Khalsa has urged the Haryana Chief Minister to constitute a judicial commission headed by a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to probe into the “well-planned killings and bring the conspirators and perpetrators to book”. Sikhs for Justice, a New York-based human rights advocacy group, has also decided to take up the matter with the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on February 23.

7-member panel to probe riots

Ropar, February 20
A seven-member committee has been formed to investigate into the killing of 60 to 70 persons during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots at Hond village in Rewari district of Haryana.

The committee comprises five members from Punjab and two from Haryana. Talking to mediapersons yesterday, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Punjab Daljit Singh Cheema said the members would soon be visiting the village to establish facts and submit a report.

“During the riots, 60 to 70 persons were killed, but the FIR lodged mentions only 10 deaths. At that time, the Congress was in power both at the Centre and the state level. The Congress-led government hid facts, to save its people,” Cheema said.

Among the committee members are: Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Bibi Jagir Kaur, Harish Rai Dhanda, Amarjeet Singh Chawla and Harjinder Singh Jakhu from Punjab; and Dr Joginder Singh Ahluwan and Raghuvir Singh Virk from Haryana.

“During the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, many bodies were found from the well situated in the Bagh. At Hond also, people had jumped into the village well to save themselves,” Cheema claimed. He said the SAD-BJP government would move the Supreme Court besides raising the issue in Parliament.

Cheema was here on the occasion of joining of SK Sandhu, who has been appointed as the first Commissioner of the newly carved Ropar division.

I hope in the light of the recent discovery, AISSF and Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) will approach United Nations, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and South Asian Human Rights Commission to visit the site of Sikh Mass Graves in village Hondh-Chillar and investigate the attack on Sikhs that took place throughout India in November 1984.
This village should be kept in same condition to memorize the bitterness of Sikh genocide like Jalianwala bag and should be fortified from all around to stop entry of unwanted people. This is the only alive sign of Sikh holocaust in India by Indian govt on Sikhs.

MASS GRAVE OF "SIKHS" KILLED IN NOVEMBER 1984 DISCOVERED IN HARYANA AFTER 26 YEARS

A mass Grave of Sikhs killed in November 1984 has been discovered after 26 years in village Hondh-Chillar, District Rewari, Haryana. The village was inhibited by several Sikh families and on November 02, 1984 in an organized and well planned attack, the entire village was burnt along with its Sikh population and Gurudwara. The village consisting of torched houses, burnt Gurudwara and scattered human bones has been now been discovered.

Due to his provocative appeal on LIVE TV, the violence against Sikhs erupted almost in every part of India, The property of Sikhs were looted, their homes and business establishments were set on fire, their females molested and at some places raped too, their mobile assets like cars, trucks, buses etc, were damaged or set on fire. Many innocent Sikhs (About 4000) unofficially reports 20.000, throughout India were killed due to his provocation. He is never booked on any charges neither of spreading hate, conspiracy, provocation and massacre of innocent citizens due to provocation. Thus he was able to achieve his goal successfully by his desired ill-will.
Ruined and burnt Gurudwara of the haunted village.
All those who want to visit this ruined village (which belonged to Sikhs until 1984), on 4th March, they should follow the route as described below;
On Delhi - Jaipur route after crossing Gurgaon, move ablout 10-12 kms and see a place as BILASPUR, turn right from here and reach at PATAUDI. Fromm here follow the oad to Riwari, after 15 kms from here, you will find Choti dhani or Hondh, chilaar is very nearby.
The genocidal site of village Hondh-Chillar is discovered by the sustained and unceasing efforts of Engineer Manvinder Singh Giaspur.
Sri Guru Granth Sahib was desecrated and Gurudwara was put on fire.

As per attorney Gurpatwant Singh Pannun Legal Advisor to Sikhs For Justice, the forlorn debris and human remains at village Hondh-Chillar discovered after 26 years are the most specific and convincing evidence of Sikhs localities being attacked and wiped out throughout India in a identical pattern in which armed groups lead by Congress Leaders would cordon the Sikh neighborhood, rape the women and burn the men and children alive. The discovery of Mass Grave of Sikhs in Haryana proves that Nanavati Commission’s scope of inquiry into the killing of Sikhs was gravely insufficient and eyewash because the commission did not look into killings of Sikhs that took place outside Delhi added attorney Pannun.

According to Karnail Singh Peermohammad scores of Sikhs living in the village were burnt to death on November 02, 1984 and the Police neither identified the dead nor investigated the killing of Sikhs. According to the FIR filed by Ghanpat Singh Sarpanch and other eyewitnesses, the Sikhs population of the village was attacked on November 02, 1984 by a group of about 500 people who came in Trucks and were armed. The group was shouting “Ye Sardar Ghaddar hain, Inn ko khatam karain ge” (These Sardars are traitors and we will wipe them out).

The attackers surrounded the Sikh houses and started throwing petrol bombs into the houses of Sikhs. Men and children were beaten and thrown into the burning houses and women were first raped and then thrown into the fire.

The village, Hondh-Chillar, located 55 km from Gurgaon, was unearthed by Manvinder Singh Giaspur, an engineer hailing from Ludhiana and at present working at Gurgaon. According to him, in November 1984, the village was inhibited by more than 35 Sikh families. "On November 2, 1984, in an organised attack, the entire village was burnt along with its Sikh population and Gurdwara.

CLAIMING to be a resident of Hondh village in Haryana that is in news these days after it came to light that several Sikh families were allegedly killed in anti-Sikh riots there in 1984, 70-year-old Uttam Singh narrated the November 2, 1984, attack here on Sunday.
Now settled in Bathinda and into a business of clothes, Uttam Singh said he had to take a sleeping pill on Saturday after a news item aired on a TV channel highlighted the attack on Sikhs refreshed his wounds all these years later.
SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar is likely to meet him on Monday.
The Punjab government has constituted a fact finding committee with Akali leader Balwinder Singh Bhunder as its chairman to look into the alleged massacre, brought to light by the All India Sikh Students Federation a couple of days ago.
I had managed to get over the pain and trauma. But after watching the story on a news channel, the bad memories are back to haunt me. I had to take a sleeping pill yesterday, as my mind could not help but recall what happened on the fateful day, Uttam said here on Sunday, recounting the attack by a mob on the village inhabited by Sikhs.
My uncle Takht Singh and cousin Harnam Singh’s wife Amrit were burnt alive in front of our eyes,†said Uttam, a Pakistan-born Sikh who moved to India after Partition.
The mob entered the village at 11 am and first targeted one Gulab Singh’s family, killing 10 members.
Next was Sardar Singh’s family and seven members were killed. The mob then went to Gurdial Singh’s home.

The 12 members of his family, including children, had locked themselves in a room, but as the mob heard a child cry, they set the room on fire from outside and all those inside, sitting on a heap of wheat, were burnt alive, said Uttam, adding that the miscreants were using diesel from the tractors of villagers to set houses on fire.
We moved from one place to other in our house to save our lives. Many of our family members were injured in the process. We managed to get to a portion of the house that had an iron grill. They mob scaled the roof of another room and started pelting us with stones. We started hurling stones back to them. After some time, there was an explosion in a tractor fuel tank. And a rumour spread that Sikhs had bombs with them. The assailants then left the village, Uttam claimed, adding that the survivors left the village at midnight in search of safer places.
He said he first tried to settle in Hoshiarpur but all his business ventures failed there, after which he moved to Bathinda about 25 years ago.

He said as many as 10 families who survived the attack had been living in Bathinda and Ludhiana, while a few others were staying in Chandigarh, Panipat and Delhi.
Uttam also spoke to SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar on Sunday.
Makkar said he would come to Bathinda on Monday to personally meet Uttam. About five families from Ludhiana who claimed to be hailing from Hondh village have also approached me. I am meeting them, too, on Monday, he added.
